Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati - Transfer to Shillong (120 km, 3 hrs)
  • Arrive at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station, meet our driver.
  • Drive to Shillong (capital of Meghalaya).
  • En route visit Umiam Lake (Barapani) - a beautiful reservoir.
  • Check-in at the hotel & relax.
  • Evening free to explore Police Bazaar (shopping & local food).
  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

Note:

  1. Involves moderate & high difficult terrains, only physically fit people suggested. 
Day 2: Day Trip to Laitlum Grand Canyon & Mawphlang Sacred Forest - Shillong
  • Have breakfast at the hotel.
  • Depart for Laitlum Grand Canyon (approx. 1-hour drive from Shillong) & explore
  • Depart for Mawphlang Sacred Forest (approx. 1.5-hour drive).
  • Take a guided walk through the sacred forest, known for its ancient trees, unique biodiversity, and spiritual significance.
  • Return to Shillong (approx. 1-hour drive).
  • Evening free for leisure or exploring local markets.
Day 3 : Cherrapunjee Local Sightseeing
  • Early morning breakfast

  • Wei Sawdong Falls (15 mins trek -1 way)
  • Dainthalen falls (5 mins - 1 way)
  • Thangkharang Park

Option 2:

  • Full Day trip to Double Decker living root bridge (Onward 2 hrs trek, Return 3 Hrs trek)
  • Rainbow falls (Extra 2 Hrs required)

Day 4 : Cherrapunjee -Dawki - Mawlynnong - Shillong
  • Early Breakfast & depart for Dawki. (85 km, 3 hrs)
  • Visit Umngot River - famous for its crystal-clear water (boat ride optional).
  • India-Bangladesh Friendship Border a picturesque location.
  • Proceed to Mawlynnong - Asia's cleanest village.
  • Explore Sky Walk - a bamboo bridge with stunning views.
  • Balancing Rock - a unique natural wonder.
  • Return & Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 5 : Shillong - Guwahati Departure
  • Shillong to Guwahati (100 km / 3 hrs)
  • After breakfast, Check Out Hotel & transfer to Guwahati.

  • Drop at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station for onward journey.

1.Do I need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Shillong or Cherrapunji?
  • No ILP is required for Meghalaya (Shillong, Cherrapunji, Dawki, etc.). However, if you extend your trip to Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, or Manipur, an ILP will be needed.


2.Are ATMs and card payments easily available?
  • Shillong: ATMs available in the city, UPI widely accepted.
  • Cherrapunji (Sohra): ATMs are very limited, and many homestays/shops prefer cash. Carry at least ?3,000–4,000
3.What if I face motion sickness on the Shillong–Cherrapunji route?

 The route has winding hill roads. Carry motion sickness tablets (like Avomine) or natural remedies (ginger, lemon). Ask your driver to take short breaks.

4.Is vegetarian food easily available?
  • Shillong: Veg food options are available in Police Bazar and cafes, though Khasi cuisine is meat-heavy. Jain food is limited.
  • Cherrapunji: Mostly homestays and small eateries serve local non-veg meals. Pure-veg options are limited, so plan accordingly.
5.What clothes should I pack for Shillong & Cherrapunji?
  • Shillong: Pleasantly cool climate. Carry light woolens, hoodies, and a raincoat (frequent showers).
  • Cherrapunji: Known as the wettest place on earth. Pack waterproof jackets, umbrellas, quick-dry clothes, and sturdy walking shoes. Nights can get chilly, so keep a sweater or light jacket.
